A Day of Rest
After a messy Easter weekend the bank holiday bonanza continues this Sunday at the Hawke & Hunter. Musika and Heavy Gossip have curated a star studded, discotheque friendly lineup for your listening pleasure. Were looking forward to a sun splashed BBQ served up in the Secret Garden alongside some of Edinburgh’s finest DJ's. The action continues across The Green Room and Below Stairs where A Day Of Rest will be showcasing world renowned talent in the shape of The Magician, Retro/Grade, Riva Star, Spencer Parker and The 6th Borough Project... Disco tickets are available at Xile stores for £20 and doors open 2pm-1am. We’ll see you on the dance planks… To whet your appetite for this fantastic event we've slapped a funk driven mix by The Magician (ex Aeroplane) on our soundcloud… Check it out using the link below.

Alabama 3
The good people at Edinburgh's Liquid Rooms hooked us up with a couple of tickets to Alabama 3 for their unplugged set last week. Having seen them rock out at TITP we were only to happy to hit the mosh pit and check it out! Surprisingly the support act proved almost as successful as the main event. The Edinburgh based Stagger Rats were off the chart… check out their link below for some of the freshest sounds to come out of Edina in the last few years. Back to Alabama 3, the group looked pretty menacing in their trademark black shades but worked their way through a great back catalouge. Larry Love's finger picking kept the tempo up all night while Harpo Strangelove impressed on the harmonica. The highlight of the show was undoubtedly lead vocalist Rock Freebase jumping into the crowd and getting crowd members to impersonate Johnny Cash. That said the lively rendition of Woke Up This Morning which they played as an encore ran it a close second!
