Edinburgh Rocks
Following the success of their raucous launch party at Bonnington Yard the team behind Edinburgh Rocks recently hosted Edinburgh’s first clubbing awards. The glitzy awards ceremony celebrated the cream of Edinburgh’s clubbing fraternity and was followed by a wild after party. Hosted in a secret location 15 minutes from the city centre the party was one of the highlights of the year with sets from established heavyweights such as Huggy & Dean Newton, Yogi Haughton, Derek Martin and Harri of Subclub fame. Dubstep pioneer Skream is hitting the Liquid Room this Thursday for a one off party in the newly refurbished Victoria Street venue. As one third of hugely popular dubstep pioneers Magnetic Man, Skream has developed a huge fanbase and is now widely recognised by the mainstream following a series of massive commercial remixes. Indeed his work with such artists as Bat For Lashes, La Roux, Chromeo and The Klaxons has seen his profile jump considerably in recent months. Daz Is Gonna Get You:
Football fans will already be aware that former Xile Directional manager Darren McGregor is now a Premier League footballer with St Mirren. While the Buddies haven’t made the best of starts to the 2010/11 SPL campaign Darren has impressed fans and opponents with a series of bullish performances in defence. Making the move from lower league football with Cowdenbeath and Arniston has been a difficult transition however Daren’s performances have stood out. He was voted Man Of The Match against Hibs earlier this season and scored his debut goal against Ross County in the Scottish Cup back in August. We’ll all be cheering for him in the crunch clash against Hamilton Accies this weekend.
Drapers Awards
Following our nomination for a couple of top awards at the industry Oscars, The Drapers Awards, a team from Xile HQ headed down to London for the ceremony. Held in the ultra swanky Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane the awards kicked off in style with presenter Lisa Snowden building the crowd into a frenzy. Although we didn’t scoop the top prize in either category we were highly commended as one of the best young fashion retailers in the country. The event wasn’t a total washout however as our intrepid team witnessed Liam Gallagher collect Pretty Green’s award for best menswear label and our good friends Luke Roper and Simon Poole accepted Luke’s award for best young fashion brand. The evening was topped off with a spot of celebrity spotting… Strictly’s Jimmy Mistry was an absolute gent and was happy ro chat about his cha cha moves! That said our attempts to befriend Fearne Cotton were less successful, any converstaion with a celeb which includes the phrase “this isn’t going as well as I’d hoped” isn’t one that deserves recounting on the world wide web!
